Adidas Women's Day hoax | Whatsapp scam

Recently a message along with a hyperlink has been circulating on Whatsapp and other social media platforms stating that Adidas, the German MNC has been giving away one million free shoes on the occasion on International Women's day.
The link which starts with adidashoe.buzz/adidass looks as if it is of the original website but a with closer look you can clearly understand that it is not the case.
All this is nothing more than a scam which could result in your personal data being shared with the hackers if you fall in the trap so all of you are being warned not to share any information on the link or better still don't even click the link.

Adidas Whatsapp scam free shoes

This website only contains some images and no text and at the end it is mentioned that the website has been developed by © 2021 adidas America Inc. however the original website shows ©2020 shop.adidas.co.in.
Clearly, it is a fraud website which although has done a fair job of copying the original website, you can easily understand its fake nature by trying to click on the bag or menu option which doesn't work.

Therefore please do not fall prey to this trap.
Ensure your safety on the web by thinking twice before clicking any link.

Tips to ensure safety on Whatsapp or other messaging applications -
  • Always double check the links for any spelling errors, fraudsters generally use name of the company with a small spelling change like in this case it is adidass instead of adidas.
  • Don't believe in such messages claiming to give free gifts.
  • Check the URL carefully, if you find any suspicious spelling change it is better not to click it.
  • Think twice before giving any personal data to any website.
