Venus is the hottest planet in the solar system and has an atmosphere about 90 times as dense as Earth's atmosphere with abundant quantities of greenhouse gases. Clouds of sulfuric acid fill the atmosphere of Venus and it is also called as the Planet that resembles Hell. However the recent findings have opened a new way for the discovery of life at Venus.

Venus is the closest planet to Earth yet due to it's harsh atmospheric conditions very few satellites have been sent there. However recently, scientists discovered that atmosphere of Venus contains phosphine gas, which on Earth can be attributed to  living organisms. A discovery, the head of NASA called "The most significant development yet" in the hunt for extraterrestrial life.

Following this the Indian Space Research Organization, ISRO has proposed a mission called Shukrayaan - 1 which will be launched by 2025. French Space Agency CNES will also participate in the mission alongside India. This mission is said to last for about four years during which ISRO will focus on studying the chemistry of Venus' atmosphere.

Recently Sweden has also got on board India's Venus orbiter mission with it's scientific instruments to explore the planet. Ambassador of Sweden to India, Klas Molin said Swedish Institute of Space Physics (IRF) is engaged in the venture, its second collaborative project with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).

So far only 42 missions have been made to Venus, out of which only Japanese Akatsuki is currently orbiting it.
