Today we are going to discuss about the electric car manufacturer Tesla's entry into the Indian market.
Elon Musk's Tesla is setting up an R&D center in Bengaluru, Karnataka which indicates Tesla's interest in India. The USA-based electric car maker is one of the biggest names in the automobile industry.
Tesla announced that it would be launching its Model-3 Sedan in India.
Tesla is famous for its Autonomous Driving Cars and although India's road infrastructure has largely improved in the past few decades, knowledge of traffic discipline is still lacking among the people. Furthermore, stray animals, potholes, and unmetalled roads pose a bigger problem.
Therefore, it will be interesting to see whether this Autonomous Driving feature will be able to work on India's highly congested roads.
Tesla's electric cars are definitely beneficial for the sustainable use of resources as well as protecting the environment from harmful fumes released by conventional vehicles to a large extent.
But,
It also boils down to the price point -
"As a country, India is still not so environmentally conscious to pay that much of a premium," Ammar Master, a forecaster at consultancy LMC Automotive said.
This makes it quite interesting to see the number of sales of Tesla cars in India.
